Fitting matters as much as the lock

Maintenance
Wipe hardware with a soft dry cloth — not an abrasive pad, which scratches the finish permanently. Lubricate lock cylinders once a year with a dry graphite or PTFE lubricant; never use a general-purpose oil spray, because it attracts dust and eventually gums the cylinder up. My door has started sticking against the frame. Is that the lock?
Usually not — it is normally the hinges. A door that is too heavy for its hinges drops slightly over time and then catches on the frame. Re-hanging it on correctly sized ball-bearing hinges fixes it properly, whereas planing the door only hides the problem.
