Kitchen shutters and hardware in Anand
In a modular kitchen the carcass rarely fails. What people replace, usually far sooner than they expected, are the shutters and the hinges — because Indian kitchens deal with steam, hot oil and daily scrubbing that ordinary laminate and cheap hardware simply do not survive. Charotar Window Gallery supplies aluminium profile shutters, glass shutters and Godrej kitchen hardware across Anand, Nadiad, Vadodara and Ahmedabad.
Shutter options
Aluminium profile shutters
A panel — glass, acrylic or laminate — held in a slim aluminium frame. The frame protects the edges, which is exactly where an ordinary shutter starts to swell and peel once water gets in. Profile shutters do not delaminate at the edge, they tolerate steam, and a damaged panel can be replaced without remaking the whole shutter.
Glass shutters
Toughened, frosted, lacquered or back-painted glass set into a profile frame. Easy to wipe down, completely unaffected by steam, and available in any colour through back painting. Frosted and tinted glass hides the contents of a cabinet while keeping the kitchen light.
Acrylic and high-gloss shutters
A mirror-finish acrylic surface that gives a bright, seamless look. Best used away from the hob, since a high-gloss surface shows every fingerprint and splash.
Back painted glass splashbacks
A single sheet of back-painted toughened glass behind the hob and counter, with no grout lines to collect oil. Far easier to keep clean than tiles, and available in any colour or printed design.
Godrej kitchen hardware
We are stocked with the Godrej range of kitchen fittings, and hardware is where the money is best spent in a kitchen:
- Soft-close hinges — the door pulls itself shut over the last few centimetres instead of slamming; the single upgrade people notice most
- Telescopic and tandem drawer channels — full extension, so the back of the drawer is actually reachable
- Pull-out baskets — cutlery, plate, thali, bottle and pantry pull-outs
- Tall units and larder pull-outs — the most efficient way to store dry goods in a small kitchen
- Corner solutions — carousel and magic-corner units that make a blind corner usable
- Lift-up and flap fittings — gas struts for overhead cabinets, so a door lifts up instead of swinging out at head height
- Handles and profile grips — including handle-less J and G profiles
Choosing a shutter finish
| Finish | Strengths | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Aluminium profile + glass | Steam-proof, edges protected, panel replaceable | Higher cost than plain laminate |
| Back painted glass | Any colour, wipes clean, does not fade | Colour cannot be changed later |
| Acrylic high gloss | Bright, seamless, reflective | Shows fingerprints; keep away from the hob |
| Matt laminate | Economical, wide range of finishes | Edges are the weak point in a wet kitchen |
How a kitchen job runs
- Site measurement — we measure the existing carcass or the kitchen layout, and check the position of services and appliances.
- Selection — shutter type, panel finish, profile colour and the hardware for each cabinet.
- Written quotation — itemised by cabinet, with hardware listed separately so you can see what it costs.
- Fabrication — shutters cut and assembled, glass toughened and back painted as required.
- Installation — shutters hung, hinges adjusted and drawers aligned by our own fitters.
Replacing only the shutters and hardware on a sound existing carcass is a common and sensible job — it transforms a tired kitchen for a fraction of the cost of a new one. Ask us about it.
What affects the price
- Shutter type and panel finish
- Total shutter area and the number of cabinets
- Profile finish, including PVD gold, rose gold and black
- Hardware grade, and how many pull-outs, tall units and corner units are included
- Soft-close on every door and drawer, or only on some
- Whether the carcass is new or existing

Care
Wipe shutters with a soft damp cloth and a mild detergent; avoid abrasive powders and steel wool on gloss and glass finishes. Wipe oil splashes off a glass splashback while they are still warm — cold, hardened oil takes far more scrubbing. Keep water off the bottom edge of laminate shutters. Once a year, tighten the hinge screws and adjust the hinges: almost every “my kitchen doors do not line up” complaint is a two-minute hinge adjustment, not a fault in the shutter.

Frequently asked questions
Can I replace only the kitchen shutters and keep the existing carcass?
Yes, and it is one of the best-value kitchen jobs there is. If the carcass is structurally sound, new shutters and hardware transform the kitchen for a fraction of the cost of rebuilding it. We measure the existing cabinets and make the shutters to fit.
Are aluminium profile shutters better than plain laminate?
In an Indian kitchen, generally yes. The aluminium frame protects the panel edges, which is exactly where laminate shutters swell and peel once steam and water get in. A damaged panel in a profile shutter can also be replaced without remaking the whole door.
What is a soft-close hinge and is it worth paying for?
A soft-close hinge takes over in the last few centimetres and closes the door quietly instead of letting it slam. It is the upgrade customers notice most in daily use, and it reduces wear on both the shutter and the carcass.
Is a glass splashback better than tiles behind the hob?
It is much easier to keep clean, because there are no grout lines for oil to settle into. A single sheet of back-painted toughened glass wipes down in seconds and can be made in any colour.
Do you supply Godrej kitchen hardware?
Yes. We stock the Godrej range of kitchen fittings — hinges, drawer channels, pull-out baskets, tall units, corner solutions and lift-up fittings — and you can see them working at our Anand showroom.
How long does a modular kitchen shutter job take?
Fabrication is usually one to two weeks depending on the finish and quantity. Fitting the shutters and adjusting the hardware normally takes a day or two on site.
